Day 3: Dancing in Tokyo

We recommend watching this video in full screen for the best experience.

To Dance or Not to Dance?

Dancing in Tokyo is the first song we wrote with the idea of making a dance-rock song. One of our favorite things about the music we write together is that we’re always open to exploring new styles and sub-genres together while still staying true to our sound.

Trevor wanted this song to sound like a synthy-dancey song, but everything was done on guitar, bass, and drums. No synths at all!

Verse:

Come on let’s hit the streets
I wonder who we’ll meet
This place in Tokyo
Follow me, follow me
Come on let’s see the show
Be there before you know
Shinjuku is a glow
Dancing in old Tokyo

Come on let’s see the sights
How does it look at night?
This place in Tokyo
Follow me, Follow me
Come on let’s hit the town
I’m sure we’ll come around
The air, it smells so sweet
Dancing

Chorus:

Dancing away in the bright lights
Let’s get lost in old Tokyo
Don’t care if nobody else knows
Let’s get lost in Tokyo

Verse:

Walk down this small side road
This might be overload
This place in Tokyo
Follow me, follow me
Walk past the corner store
Insides just like the lore
Got snacks and sweets galore
Dancing in old Tokyo

Walk to the same train stop
Get it on it with a hop
This place in Tokyo
Follow me, Follow me
Like a living rainbow
Does no one else know?
Shinjuku is a glow
Dancing

Chorus:

Dancing away in the bright lights
Let’s get lost in old Tokyo
Don’t care if nobody else knows
Let’s get lost in Tokyo

Slow Verse:

Come on let’s hit the streets
Come on let’s see the show
Come on let’s watch the lights
Follow
Walk down this small side road
Shinjuku is a glow
Like a living rainbow
Dancing in old Tokyo

Chorus:

Watching the night and the bright sights
Let’s get lost in old Tokyo
Don’t care if nobody else knows
Let’s get lost in old Tokyo

Dancing away in the bright lights
Let’s get lost in old Tokyo
Don’t care if nobody else knows
Let’s get lost in Tokyo

Glad to hear you think it’s catchy! It definitely a bit of a departure for us but you gotta take some risks sometimes and we really love how it turned out,

Thanks so much Randy! It’s definitely one of the more fun upbeat riffs to play, like this song in general haha. Thanks for being here 🙂
